Synta Kayanil was a female Bajoran vedek who lived hundreds of years prior to the 24th century.

She wrote the book When the Prophets Cried, a collection of religious exegeses, historical recountals and prophetic writings. Synta was revered for her insight, even in her own time. (DS9 - Mission Gamma novel: Twilight)
