Tahal-Meeroj was a planet located in the space of the galaxy's Delta Quadrant. It was the homeworld of the Tahal-Isut. (VOY episode: "Blink of an Eye"; VOY - Distant Shores short story: "Eighteen Minutes")
The tachyon core of the planet had created a differential in space-time, which meant that time passed more quickly on the planet than in the surrounding space. When Voyager was pulled into orbit of the planet it coincided with a period of geological instability on the planet, which led the local inhabitants to believe that the new star in the sky was responsible.
While Voyager spent several days in orbit, they observed the inhabitants go from a pre-medieval level of technology and passing into a spacefaring civilization. After sending the Doctor to the surface to investigate the possibilites of first contact with the local inhabitants, it was revealed that Voyager was a catalyst for so much technological development on the planet. Eventually the inhabitants reached such a high level of technology they were able to design a temporal compensator which allowed them to join normal space-time, and tow Voyager out of orbit. (VOY episode: "Blink of an Eye"; VOY short story: "I Have Broken the Prime Directive")
- Tahal-Meeroj was not named in the episode Blink of an Eye but was named in the short story Eighteen Minutes. In the short story I Have Broken the Prime Directive, the planet was called "the Weird Planet."
