Talak, son of Yorchogh was a Klingon general from the House of K'Tal. He had at least one son, Kargan, captain of the IKS Pagh.

Prior to her posting on the IKS Gorkon, Tereth had an opportunity to serve directly under General Talak but chose instead to serve under Captain Huss.

During the Dominion War, Talak often travelled to Deep Space 9, from where General Martok controlled the Klingon Empire's forces being used against the Dominion. Benjamin Sisko told Talak the Human metaphor "the Devil can quote Scripture for his own ends". As the Klingons had no devil, Sisko had to explain the metaphor to him. (GKN novel: Honor Bound)

In 2376, Talak ordered Captain Klag of the IKS Gorkon to work with the Federation in finding several missing dignitaries, including Admiral Leonard McCoy, who had been traveling with B'Oraq to Qo'noS for a medical conference. (TNG - The Brave and the Bold, Book Two novella: The Final Artifact)

Shortly after, Talak commanded the Klingon fleet assigned to the Kavrot sector aboard the Vor'cha-class cruiser, IKS Akua. Shortly after Klag's induction into the Order of the Bat'leth, Talak began conspiring with Klag's younger brother, Dorrek – captain of the IKS K'mpec – to avenge the dishonors that both believed done to them: Talak seeking to avenge his son's death and Klag's survival on Marcan V during the war, and Dorrek seeking to avenge his father, M'Raq, who had been ostracized (because of his capture by the Romulans) and then "mutilated" by Klag, who had taken his father's right arm as his own after M'Raq's death. (GKN novel: A Good Day to Die)

After ordering Klag to go back on his word he made to the natives of San-Tarah, he went with his fleet to that world to conquer it, and destroy any Klingon who got in his way. The resulting battle resulted in the destruction of the IKS Akua and his subsequent death at the hands of Klag on San-Tarah. (GKN novel: Honor Bound)
