When Brown II (III?) was activated...[]

Actually, it is implied that the second Brown android (Brown III) was already created and active when the Enterprise found Korby. Brown III had been exploring the caverns for many months and was cut off from a timely return by a natural movement of underground structures; Brown III spent extra time exploring for an alternate route to return to Korby's headquarters, by which time Kirk had visited and left. Brown III checked the records and discovered the deactivation of Brown II, the destruction of Ruk, and the subsequent destruction of Korby and Andrea.

Brown III then used the duplicating machine, by loading a blank and then running the machine and making the synaptic fusion, simply reusing the last patterns the machine was used to copy: James T. Kirk's. Kirk III then out-logicked Brown and assumed command, but carrying out Korby's original intent. A distress signal summoned the Hood, its captain and first officer were successfully copied and inserted onto the ship, and the machinery moved to the Hood. GCapp1959 10:52, March 13, 2010 (UTC)
