What novel is this information from? --TimPendragon 00:11, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

This looks like information from the Last Unicorn and Decipher RPGs.--Julianbaischir 03:20, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Re:

Recent novels state that Alpha Centauri was uninhabited by a native species, and that it was primarily a human colony. Most current Star Trek novels use this premise.

Which premise? The premise of the article (inhabited) or of the note (uninhabited, as suggested by ENT)?--Emperorkalan 02:52, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

That's the way the original author put it, I'll come up with some rewording. Note should also be made that a lot of earlier novels, like Prime Directive used indigenous Centaurians.
Speaking of which, what about Crisis on Centaurus, and other novels of that era? --TimPendragon 02:55, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Just mention that the idea of the Alpha Centauri system has evolved over time: TOS canon references to Alpha Centauri were never very specific and never specifically mentioned a Centaurian race, but from those few mentions licensed works (the Star Trek Spaceflight Chronology, the LUG/Decipher RPG, some novels) extrapolated an inhabited AC. Star Trek: First Contact undermined those sources by making Zephram Cochrane a human, and Star Trek: Enterprise never addressed AC except as a human colony (when an inhabited AC system would have been a major ally, worth mentioning somewhere).--Emperorkalan 03:56, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
IIRC, The Worlds of the Federation stated that the Alpha Centaurians were actually humans from Ancient Greece who had been relocated to Alpha Centauri by the Preservers. This is consistent with the Alpha Centauri standard (with centaurs) in the Star Fleet Technical Manual. Gildir 13:54, August 4, 2010 (UTC)
