Talk:Clare Raymond
Back to page
Her first name: Claire or Clare? DTI: Watching the Clock uses Clare, as does Memory Alpha. Don't have the Khan book available to check there, but she only had a cameo in that one. She has a more significant (though still small) role in DTI. I'll make a motion to change it to "Clare", but getting input and consensus first.--Emperorkalan 10:51, May 17, 2011 (UTC)
- "Claire" in the Khan book. As she's touring the Palais des Nations:
- The English-speaking tour guide paused to let the group admire the palatial lobby. Claire Raymond, a thirty-five-year-old homemaker from Secaucus, looked around in respectful awe at the high ceiling and looming marble columns, as well as the lofty bay windows looking out on nearby Lake Geneva.
- Emphasis mine, obviously.
- In the script for The Neutral Zone, she is named as "Clare Raymond". No "i".
- Apparently, the Star Trek Chronology and Encyclopedia also spell her first name as "Claire". -- sulfur 14:08, May 17, 2011 (UTC)
- So the canon source and licensed source where she has significant roles use "Clare", while the (early) Chronology and the Encyclopedia (which was an expansion of the Cron.) and Cox's book (which likely used the Encyclopedia as a reference) used the easy-to-make erroneous version of "Claire". Show of hands for changing to "Clare", with a note on the discrepancy?--Emperorkalan 16:43, May 17, 2011 (UTC)
- No matter how numerous the other usage is, the canon origination was "Clare" -- and that spelling is shared in a licensed source, which also happens to be the most recent. -- Captain MKB 04:19, May 18, 2011 (UTC)
