"Excalibur II" Edit

Hi, I noticed a problem. Maybe somebody can help?

USS Excalibur (NCC-1711) and USS Excalibur (NCC-1788) are currently lumped together in a single article as Excalibur II (NCC-1711/1788).

But this is based on a confusion: the internal chronology confirms these two Excaliburs were definitely different vessels.

USS Excalibur (NCC-1711) was a Constitution class (Enterprise Mark-I subclass) starship entering service on Reference Stardate 2/1808, i.e. sometime probably in the late 2270s, and scrapped on 2/2003, i.e. in the early 2280s. (Federation Ship Recognition Manual, p. 11.)

USS Excalibur (NCC-1788) was also a Constitution class (Enterprise subclass) starship. (Star Trek III Sourcebook Update, p. 35.) It was this vessel which discovered the USS Republic NCC-1373 in the Styx Rift three years later, on Reference Stardate 2/2304, i.e. in the mid 2280s. (Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update, p. 32.)

The NCC-1788 was definitely a different vessel from the NCC-1711, as it was in service three years after the NCC-1711 had been scrapped.

We need to disambiguate these two starships and create a separate article for NCC-1788. 59.101.163.52 08:38, December 11, 2011 (UTC)
