A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Also, please do not include details in the summary bar when editing pages and do not anticipate making additions relating to sources not yet in release. THANK YOU

Is this article really necessary? Isn't the "Federation Government" actually the same entity that is described at United Federation of Planets? -- Captain MKB 14:39, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

I think it's safe to say that the article is woefully undeveloped -- which is partially my fault; I began the article years ago and have never gotten around to fully writing it -- but I don't think that it's the same thing at all. The Federation is a stateWP, not a governmentWP. It has a government, yes. But just like, say, GermanyWP is not the same entity as the German governmentWP, the Federation is not the same thing as the Federation government. -- Sci 16:38 2 NOV 2009 UTC
Point made and taken, thanks for the reply.
For continuing, should we take cues from Wikipedia and adjust the case of "government" in this article to match their notation? -- Captain MKB 17:06, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
I've certainly got no problem with using the lowercase "g." -- Sci 17:15 2 NOV 2009 UTC
Another thought -- perhaps some of the larger United Federation of Planets article is describing topics that have more to do with the government structure, and could be moved here to expand this topic? -- Captain MKB 17:33, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
