- I'm not sure that this comment has any value, besides being a spoiler to me, who hasn't read the novel... did you wake up trying to be a jerk, or do you just "make it so"? -- Captain MKB 05:51, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sorry you're a slow reader. There, I removed it. Happy? – AT2Howell 04:29, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
References (mostly) complete for now. Need to get some sleep, will work on the summary over the next day or two. --Captain Savar 05:28, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Latin
If we're going to include all the front and end matter, we might as well do it properly; anyone know what the line of latin at the end of the book means? --8of5 16:25, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Terminat hora diem; terminat auctor opus. "The hour finishes the day; the author finishes his work" A latin phrase concluding Christopher Marlowe's play Doctor Faustus. I think it's also a Rush (the musicians) reference --Emperorkalan 19:01, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Great Builders
I think they were referenced as a species, not as an other. Does anyone have the book handy? Mine is still in a box somewhere. – AT2Howell 16:27, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- I don't have any reference to what they actually are; they're invoked as gods. Until then, I've been considering them as a "subspecies" or a race of the species themselves - similar to Asian, Brittish, Canadian, German, etc. If you can produce a citation where they're described as a seperate race (like the Preservers?), I'd be more than fine with moving them. ("God", "Devil", etc being people always struck me as odd, too... but on other pages that I looked at in order to understand how references are cited, they were always listed there, so I've kept to that) --Captain Savar 17:09, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know of anyone who considers various ethnic groups to be "gods", but you must get around more than I do. Religious figures do tend to end up being referenced characters, but, like the Preservers and the guys who met Chakotay's people, I think we should go with species on this one. – AT2Howell 17:15, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
