UFP emblemEdit

Why is the TMP-era Federation symbol used as a placeholder for Xiong? We've seen on-screen that the 24th Century-style emblem was used during the TOS period. In "In a Mirror, Darkly," the emblem was clearly shown on a Defiant monitor, and on the familiar 24th Century-style Federation Flag, also aboard the Defiant.

The emblem used is not the TMP-era emblem. It is the TOS-era emblem that was in use as of 2266-2267 when the Star Fleet Technical Manual took place (concurrent to the episode "Tomorrow is Yesterday" -- meaning it is more in keeping with the Vanguard time period. Vanguard began around 2265, this emblem was noted to be in use in 2266-2267 by the SFTM, and the Defiant/ENT reference of the other emblem (which I was aware of) doesn't come around until 2268 or so.
