Memory Beta doesn’t welcome strictly canon references if that is the only reference, if we are going to note a reference on a page we might as well explain why, an episode name isn't very interesting when researching trekverse pizza consumption. -- 8of5 17:33, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

I thought that the novelization of Star Trek IV was a "non-canon" topic -- the only thing added that was not relevant was the reference from the Voyager episode, which is canon and non non-canon. -- Captain M.K.B. 17:47, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah but once we have an article, with a non-canon citation, it is not uncommon to add in additional canon references to tell a more complete story of the subject. Now maybe the threshold reference isn't the most relivent and shouldnt be there at all, but if the reference is to be listed we might as well explain why, just listing episode that feature pizza isn't very useful, we link to memory alpha where all the canon pizza references can be found, so if we must list a canon reference we might as well explain what the reference is (and why it is relivent to us) and leave the complete canon history of pizza to MA. -- 8of5 17:52, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Actually, in the STIV "pizza place" scene in the novelization, Gillian notes that Kirk eats pizza like he's never seen it before (which could imply a reduced popularity, or just that Kirk never had it before). Do we know if pizza places were ever mentioned (particularly in San Francisco) during ENT or somewhere where someone is recalling their academy days, or whatever (which might indicate which of those two is more likely)? And 8of5: would the inclusion of the Kirk bit here be sufficient reason in your view to include a pizza reference on the movie/novellization's page? (not intending to be snarky, just looking to avoid see-saw edits)--Emperorkalan 19:14, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Of course, novelizations are within our scope are they not? I'm not quite sure what that was a reference to though? My edit on the Voyage Home page was to move the pizza reference down to an others section rather than right at the top of the references if that's what you mean? -- 8of5 19:34, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, my fault for not scrolling the "compare versions" page down more. It looked like you had REmoved the link, not just moved it. (translated from the foot-in-mouth-ese)--Emperorkalan 19:39, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
