So, Boma reappears as an officer in the 2012 Pocket TOS novel "That Which Divides." Still in Starfleet, he's greatly ashamed of the Galileo incident onboard the Enterprise, but he certainly wasn't court-martialed, and even makes his peace with Kirk and Spock by the end of the novel.
