Problem is, Vanguard establishes that Wescott ran for re-election in 2264, one year prior to the events in the novel itself. To be completely fair, the novel only refers to a male president running for re-election; author David Mack in his annotations notes that the intent is to refer to Wescott. The only way to reconcile Sarboran with Wescott is to assume that the male president Vanguard refers to is Sarboran and disregard Mr. Mack's annotations. Personally, I'm prone to assuming that when there's a contradiction between an RPG and a novel, the novel -- and, frankly, the novelist's intent -- wins out, but that's just me. Besides, 2265 wasn't an election year, and Articles of the Federation establishes that there were no special elections in Federation history prior to Hiram Roth's death. -- Sci 17:15 24 FEB 2006 UTC

I think that Sarboran, should be excluded now, because it does disrupt continuity and the flow of the timeline. And information from a novel should proceed information from FASA. After I wrote the article, I realised there would be a clash with Wescott.
