Talk:Sirius

Back to page

Just to explain the merge of several 'small' star/system (Alpha (star)/Alpha system, Alpha Canaris, Alpha Canis Majoris and Sirius) articles into this larger one, i will cite the sources here on the talk page for a clear explanation. -- Captain MKB 23:19, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

  1. The Worlds of the Federation lists that Alpha III orbits a star named Alpha, in the Alpha system.
  2. FASA's RPG supplements establish that this Alpha system is actually the Alpha Canaris system.
  3. FASA's RPG supplements list stars with the "Canaris" name as being a shortened version of the "Canis Majoris" name, meaning that "Alpha Canaris" and "Alpha Canis Majoris" are one and the same. The source i have is Star Fleet Intelligence Manual, with "Epsilon Canaris" being listed under "Adhara", which is an alternate name of "Epsilon Canis Majoris" in real life.
  4. Modern astronomy confirms that "Alpha Canis Majoris" and "Sirius" are one and the same in real life.
