Talk:Sirius

Just to explain the merge of several 'small' star/system (Alpha (star)/Alpha system, Alpha Canaris, Alpha Canis Majoris and Sirius) articles into this larger one, i will cite the sources here on the talk page for a clear explanation. -- Captain MKB 23:19, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- The Worlds of the Federation lists that Alpha III orbits a star named Alpha, in the Alpha system.
- FASA's RPG supplements establish that this Alpha system is actually the Alpha Canaris system.
- FASA's RPG supplements list stars with the "Canaris" name as being a shortened version of the "Canis Majoris" name, meaning that "Alpha Canaris" and "Alpha Canis Majoris" are one and the same. The source i have is Star Fleet Intelligence Manual, with "Epsilon Canaris" being listed under "Adhara", which is an alternate name of "Epsilon Canis Majoris" in real life.
- Modern astronomy confirms that "Alpha Canis Majoris" and "Sirius" are one and the same in real life.
