Where does the "New Paris" name come from? Avatar? Is it really supposed to refer to the colony as a whole, or just to one city on the colony world? (Whenever it was referred to in TNG, it was always "Turkana IV", which implies that was the more common term of reference -- which is only logical, to avoid confusion with the apparently-better-known New paris colonies.)--Emperorkalan 13:08, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- TNG novel: Survivors gave the name "New Paris" to the failed colony on as-yet-unnamed planet Turkana IV. -- Captain MKB 16:14, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Avatar's New Paris[]
Is the Avatar reference mentioned here supposed to refer to Turkana IV or the New Paris colonies? – CapnCrunch 05:25, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- Avatar makes one citation of "New Paris", just to note it was home to a DS9 casualty. There's no mention of Turkana IV.
- It seems to me that, if the use of "New Paris" in Survivors was later overridden by canon, then New Paris should default to New Paris colonies, with a note in that article explaining the Survivors cite, pointing to Turkana IV. Or, an article named "New Paris, Turkana IV" if the assumption is this was the name of a city on the planet --75.168.134.42 16:19, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- "New Paris" as the name of Tasha Yar's home planet (not a city) only appears in Survivors, AFAICT. Every other mention almost certainly refers to the New Paris colonies. Hence I relocated the (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book One) reference to there. I also made 'Turkana IV' the primary name. -- BadCatMan 05:58, August 7, 2011 (UTC)
