Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Okay, here we have a conflict. Which non-canon source has priority? The Decipher roleplaying game datapacks with conjectural data, or issues of Star Trek magazines such as Communicator that backstage crew who made visual effects, designed ships and made props for the actual shows? What we have here is a registry conflict. Decipher apparently has the USS Nebula as NCC-60202, where as Communicator has it (including artwork of plans and cutaway detail) as NCC-60147. I now have the scans of this and was wanting to update this page, only to find the current situation. So, who has priority? Can we switch back to the Communicator registry of 60147?

I'd say the hierarchy goes episodes/movies - novels - comics - games – reference books - other stuff. Which would give both those sources an equal status. If the pictures have one registration I'd be inclined to go with that one. And just note the discreprincy on the page somewhere. -- 8of5 20:39, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Registry redux[]

Okay, after looking at the various sources, three registries have come to light for the Nebula. The Decipher RPG module: Starships gives the registry of NX-60602 (not NCC-60202), and a Star Trek Communicator article gives both NCC-60147 and NCC-60000. Therefore, I propose we move this article to USS Nebula (prototype). --The Doctor 01:09, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

"Prototype" seems fine -- although if one of these registries is used again somewhere in the future, we should probably honor that one (hint hint if there are authors listening) -- Captain MKB 18:59, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

NCC-60147 was used in the short-lived Star Trek: The Next Generation: Build the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D magazine. -- Cyfa (talk) 15:36, November 30, 2014 (UTC)
