Yoga[]

I've got a Yoga problem. The book lists it as Dashtenga Yoga, but wikipedia tells me it is called Ashtanga Yoga. And would we consider Yoga to be a thing (that people do), an organization (having leaders and set guidelines), or a culture (as a branch of Hinduism it is a way of life and religion, not just something for housewives). Opinions? – AT2Howell 19:44, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

I think Dashtenga Yoga is meant to be a new form that combines a Hatha-based Terran yoga (perhaps Hatha Yoga or Ashtanga Yoga) and Vulcan meditation techniques. Regarding yoga generally, I would suggest that whether it is merely a practice or something cultural depends on circumstances. Perhaps it could be categorized under both, as it is on wikipedia? --Columbia clipper 20:24, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

It looks like these folks are using it for recreation, not as a religion. I'll file it as 'other' for now, if anyone has another opinion, let me know. – AT2Howell 20:28, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry; though it was perfectly clear, I for some reason didn't realize you were talking about categorizing it here. "Other" seems reasonable. --Columbia clipper 20:52, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Now, if someone on the ship were Hindi, I would put it under 'culture'. I didn't catch any names that struck me as Indian, did you? – AT2Howell 20:55, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

No, I didn't, either. It's possible Clarissa Glenn is Hindu, but doesn't seem likely. The context of the only mention of Dashtenga Yoga seems to indicate that it's an exercise, not a cultural practice. --Columbia clipper 21:16, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Help[]

Ens. Bens, on Voyager, what is the first name? I've got "Eli---", only instead of dash marks I wrote something that looks like an 'N', a 'V', and an 'E' got into a wreck. Anybody? – AT2Howell 20:35, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Looks like you mean "Eline Bens", the nurse, to me. -- sulfur 20:49, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Which one[]

There's a reference given for a "Hegemony". Any idea which one? – AT2Howell 17:46, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

I don't recall it making it absolutely clear, but I would assume the Gorn Hegemony, since the books are intended to tie-in with the upcoming Typhon Pact novels, which feature the Gorn heavily. -- sulfur 18:26, August 6, 2010 (UTC)
