Talk:Vrax

Back to page

Do you think it was the intention that this Vrax, was the same Vrax we saw as a senator in Enterprise, and was last seen in a precarious situation in The Good That Men Do. --Flag of the United Kingdom.png VOTE SAXON AdmTlk 22:53, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

I think that would be a matter for the publisher and future authors to determine. It would be possible given the extended life spans of Romulans, and that Valdore kept him alive in the belief that Vrax would be needed some day - perhaps for something that eventually redeemed him. Has any fate been established for this character yet? Alien Spotlight: Romulans establishes a young recently... praetorised... Praetor, serving in 2266, just before Balance of Terror, he was the son of the recently assassinated former Praetor. So would he fit with being this guy's son, or is he known to be alive by the time of Balance of Terror? --8of5 19:03, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

We have three datapoints for Vrax, all from Summon the Thunder or its annotations:
  • Vrax was the current praetor at the time the Rom ship in Summon left port (or otherwise last communicated with friendlies);
  • He had been Praetor for several decades;
  • (from authors annotation) He is indeed the senator seen on ENT.
So it is feasible that he could have died and been succeeded by his son between the time the Romulans in Summon last knew who was praetor and the events of the Spotlight issue.--Emperorkalan 20:12, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Just in case it isn't clear, I phrased things above the way I did because the Romulan warbird in Summon was on a long-distance reconnasiance and intel-gathering mission, which would entail the ship going for long periods incommunicado. So while Vrax is mentioned as the "current" praetor, that would have represented the crew's knowledge when they left port or were last informed by higher command. At the time of the actual events of Summon, that information could easily be months out of date.--Emperorkalan 20:29, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Cool beans, thanks Emperor :) --8of5 21:24, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
So, removed the post I had here before because I read the authors' notes at the beginning of The First Peer and it confirms that this Vrax is the same one seen in United. Also, this story contradicts the comics a lot and still has Vrax serving as Praetor in 2267.--Long Live the United Earth 01:50, April 2, 2010 (UTC)
