Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Also, please do not include details in the summary bar when editing pages and do not anticipate making additions relating to sources not yet in release. THANK YOU

Anonymous user 154.5.39.80 changed the name of the Col.'s house from "House of Mogh" to "House of Worf", giving the reason "(Unless Colonel Worf's father was Mogh, too)". I changed it back (pending further discussion) for two reasons: 1) on a purely practical level, "House of Worf" would simply be a redirect to "House of Mogh" since they'd be the same entity, and until we have something for "House of Mogh", a redirect is kind of pointless; and 2) we have zero hard information on the name of the House before Mogh, but we do know a few things:

  • Worf (TNG) never changed the name: throughout TNG and DS9 it remained "House of Mogh";
  • Some Houses keep a single name, not switching with each head (see "House of Duras");
  • Names get recycled in Klingon families (e.g., "Duras" and "Toral" within the Duras family, obvioiusly "Worf" within Worf's family);

So it's entirely possible that the House of Mogh is named for Col. Worf's father or (even more likely) for some previous ancestor named Mogh.

This is something that should be included on the House of Mogh page in particular and the Klingon Houses page in general (the latter should also include Final Reflection-style Lines, which served the same function until Houses became canon). Opening the floor to counterarguments and other thoughts.--Emperorkalan 12:39, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Move[]

Should this page be moved to Worf (General) to fully cover the character's non-canon history?--Tim Thomason 23:02, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Admiration for Kirk[]

"In doing this, his grandson Lieutenant Commander Worf; years later-admired and saw great "honor" in meeting James T. Kirk. (DS9 episode "Trials and Tribble-ations")" - Is there any evidence for this statement, it seems rather speculative and it's just as likely Worf admired him for the reasons anyone else in Starfleet does. --8of5 14:00, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

In response to "Admiration for Kirk"[]

That is left up to the readers and fans to decide. Remember: Memory Beta was started for and by them. On the premise of filling in Memory Alpha's gaps. This is merely what most Trek references canon and otherwise is based upon- conjecture. It shouldn't be taken seriously. Only as the "infinite diversity" of an expanded Universe of possibilities. This is the beauty and entertainment of science-fiction.

Yeah, sorry, that is not what Memory Beta is for. We are here to write about the Star Trek universe as depicted in licensed sources, not conjecture or anything else. Everything we add to the database requires evidence in the form of a citation, there is no citation for your entirely speculative addition. --8of5 14:32, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
