Taluno was a Bajoran male and the Kai of Bajor in the early 22nd century.

He shared a name with the Taluno Library which was located on his home world. (DS9 short story: "Ha'mara")

The library was built several centuries before Taluno's birth, although he himself could have been named for it.

One of the past hosts of Dax encountered Taluno at a peace conference when the host was an apprentice diplomat. Jadzia Dax would later describe him as "dour and dogmatic" and stated that Taluno was not given to exaggeration. (DS9 novelization: Emissary)

During his life, Taluno wrote at least seventeen prophecies. (TLE - Terok Nor novel: Night of the Wolves)

In 2133, Taluno was on a ship travelling through the Denorios Belt, which was later disabled for several days. Taluno saw what Benjamin Sisko and Jadzia Dax would later discover to be the Bajoran wormhole opening. Taluno's account helped the Starfleet officers locate the wormhole in 2369. (DS9 episode: "Emissary"; ST reference: Star Trek Chronology)
