Tamburlaine the Great was a play written by the Human playwright Christopher Marlowe in the 1580s. This two part play is based upon the life of Timur 'the lame'.

Commodore Lucian Murat had a favorite quote from this play. Bring me a map and let me see, how much is left to conquer all the world. In 2367 when Doctor Janice Eardman led the away team to explore the wreckage of Lucian's ship, the USS Verdun, she paraphrased the quote replacing world with universe. (TNG novel: The Forgotten War)
