Tantalus V was a planet in the Alpha Quadrant. In the 23rd century, it was the location of the Tantalus Penal Colony.

Outside of the colony, Tantalus was a lifeless, ravaged place with had been battered by a bitter and blustery climate. The planet's atmosphere was composed mostly of nitrogen, which had been diluted by some of the noble gasses. (TOS episode & novelization: Dagger of the Mind)

The USS Lovell was assigned to perform a computer systems upgrade at Tantalus V in 2265, following their mission to Starbase 47. (SCE eBook: Distant Early Warning)

Mirror universeEdit

In the mirror universe, General Thy'lek Shran ordered all outposts on Tantalus V destroyed, claiming the world was a rebel stronghold. In fact, there were no rebels on Tantalus V, and the assault was carried out for propaganda purposes only. (ENT - Glass Empires novel: Age of the Empress)
