Tariq Rahim was a Human male. He was a Lieutenant in Starfleet and served aboard the USS Defiant as a science officer.

In January 2377, Rahim was on the Defiant when it pursued Taran'atar. After Prynn Tenmei was believed to have been killed in the explosion of the comet Nahanas, Rahim questioned if Elias Vaughn was still able to command the Defiant. Sam Bowers countered that while they were all grieving for Prynn, they were still able to do their duty. Rahim later briefed the Defiant crew on Harkoum. (DS9 novel: Warpath)
