The Kaferians (or Tau Cetiians) were a sentient civilization from the Tau Ceti star system, indigenous to Kaferia, the third planet. They are insectoid humanoids, with wide-set eyes and mandibles.

One of their known exports was an alcoholic beverage known as Tau Cetiian verguzz. (TOS novel: Uhura's Song)

The star system's third planet exports the fruit Kaferian apples.

They are extremely friendly, yet chose to be trusted allies of the Federation, rather have full membership.
