Tera Franklin (born Tera O'Herlihy) was a female Human in the 21st century and the daughter of Jocelyn and Marcus O'Herlihy.
In the year 2020, Tera was kidnapped by the Human Extinction League, with whom she had become involved in college, Tera enjoying debates with the less extremist members of the organization regarding their conflicting views on humanity's expansion into the solar system. The HEL used Tera to force her father to sabotage the USS Lewis & Clark's mission, with the goal of convincing NASA to abandon space exploration. However, this plan was stopped by James T. Kirk (who had been sent to the past after the Lewis & Clark discovered an alien probe), Kirk averting Marcus's sabotage and then rescuing Tera from the HEL's compound with the aid of the USS Enterprise after it came back to rescue him.
Later in life, Tera was involved in the Ares IV exploration program. (TOS novel: The Rings of Time)
