Alleby served as an enginner as the Starfleet Academy Flight Range on Mimas prior to graduation, where she focused on servicing trainer craft used by the academy. (ST video game: Starship Creator)
In 2365, she graduated Starfleet Academy in the 90th percentile. Allenby was an ensign assigned to the USS Enterprise-D, serving as a shuttle pilot and backup conn officer. During her time on the Enterprise, she was part of a small social group which dubbed itself the "corner office". (TNG episodes: "Final Mission", "The Loss")

Allenby formed a strong animosity toward Wesley Crusher, who she perceived as blocking her own advancement on the ship, given his status as "acting ensign" and his regular assignments to bridge duty.
