Tharia ch'Ren was an Andorian chan in the 24th century. As of 2370, he was a resident of Beaulieu's World, when he lost all three of his mates—Athmin, Ushra, and Shers—in a Cardassian offensive against the Maquis. Tharia had, until then, been an outspoken opponent of the Maquis, but following this tragedy, he was recruited by former Starfleet officer Chakotay, and joined his Maquis cell.

In mid-2371, after a crash landing on a moon in the Grovran system inside the Demilitarized Zone, Tharia discovered the third Malkus Artifact, which gave its user the power to control the weather. Tharia used it first to destroy the climate of Nramia, a Cardassian military settlement. When his fellow Maquis expressed outrage at the wholesale damage done to the planet, he then used the Artifact on the life support systems of Chakotay's ship, the Geronimo.

Escaping on a shuttle from that ship, Tharia traveled to Slaybis II, a human colony, intending to execute an undercover Starfleet Intelligence agent, Elios Phifer. However, Tharia's shuttle was damaged during the severe weather he caused on that planet, stranding him. When he was then confronted both by Chakotay and Starfleet Captain Robert DeSoto (as well as Cal Hudson and Tuvok), Tharia finally committed suicide.
