Thavas was an Andorian officer in Starfleet in the 23rd century. As of 2267, Thavas held the rank of Commander, and was assigned as executive officer of Deep Space Station M-33 under Commodore Julius Merrill. (TOS short story: "Fracture")

Thavas is never refered to as either male or female, or the four Andorian genders.
