The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Day the Earth Stood Still was a American science fiction film released in the year 1951. It depicted first contact between humanity and an alien race.
While the crew was confined to the catwalk of Enterprise in 2152, Commander Charles Tucker III had the film shown for movie night on a monitor in Compartment 5. (ENT episode: "The Catwalk")
In 2153, Tucker showed the film to a Vissian cogenitor whom he had befriended. At first, the cogenitor believed that it was an accurate depiction of Earth. However, Tucker explained that it was a work of fiction and the Earth never actually stood still. After viewing the film, the cogenitor inquired as to why the humans had been reacted with paranoia to its alien protagonist Klaatu and his android Gort. Tucker then explained that humans were "pretty violent" before first contact with the Vulcans in 2063 and typically reacted with fear to things that they did not understand.
