The Globe Illustrated Shakespeare
The Globe Illustrated Shakespeare was a hardbound book that contained all works written by William Shakespeare, with scholarly annotations written in the 19th century. Jean-Luc Picard owned a rare 20th century printing of this book, which he kept in a glass display case in his ready room aboard the USS Enterprise and Enterprise-E.
Q threw this book at Picard as they debated the Human condition, citing Shakespearean quotes at one another. (TNG episode: "Hide and Q")
According to Berlinghoff Rasmussen, the position of this book in Picard's ready room was a matter of interest to 26th century historians. (TNG episode: "A Matter of Time")
This volume was destroyed when the Enterprise-E was attacked by Hirogen hunters in 2381. Beverly Crusher replaced it for Picard with a 21st century copy of The New Britannia Complete Shakespeare. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
