The Great Awakening was a point in United Federation of Planets history when many historians feel the new interstellar government became the dominant exploratory power in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants of the galaxy.

This era saw a renewed commitment to inter-Federation diplomatic unity after the "dissolution conference" at Babel ended with no parties choosing to secede from the UFP. After this, breakthroughs in warp drive dilithium usage, duotronic computing and other sciences contributed to a new era of fast, powerful starships such as the Constitution-class. Many "follow-on" designs of starships were based on components used in the Constitution project, leading to a dramatic change in Starfleet's technological appearance.
