The Light was a religion or philosophy. In his exile from the planet Wyath Kommandant Ghud converted to become a follower of The Light. The conversion made him a quiet and serene individual, and also led him to believe his past crimes (which included the responsibility for the deaths of forty-seven million of his people) were something to be left behind and that he was henceforth an innocent man.
