- The novel A Stitch in Time details the installation of Garak's 'wire' and Enabran Tain's retirement to the Arawath colony.
- In a deleted or unfilmed scene from the episode, Sisko recalled his assignment to the Federation embassy on Romulus, with Curzon Dax also assigned there at the same time. A Romulan named Stolpan was arrested by the Tal Shiar and Sisko wanted to save him, although Curzon warned him he could be imprisoned or killed if he intervened. The Star Trek: Typhon Pact novel Rough Beasts of Empire mentions that Sisko was assigned to the embassy.
