Thor Heyerdahl
- For other uses, see Heyerdahl.
Thor Heyerdahl was a male Human in the 20th century, born in Norway on Earth. He was famous for making an 8000 kilometer journey from Peru to the Tuamotu Islands of the Pacific Ocean on a primitive raft called the Kon-Tiki, proving it possible that ancient Incas may have made similar journeys to Polynesia.
MACO Sergeant Gage Pembleton of the Columbia (NX-02) cited Heyerdahl when he suggested building a raft to cross the oceans of the planet where the Caeliar city-ship Mantilis had crashed. (ST - Destiny novel: Lost Souls)
- The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion notes that Heyerdahl's journey was the direct inspiration for the episode "Explorers".
