The Life of Timon of Athens was a play written by Human playwright William Shakespeare about the Athenian misanthrope Timon.

In 2372, Captain Jean-Luc Picard quoted the following to a Changeling infiltrator during negotiations aboard the USS Enterprise-E. (TNG eBook: A Sea of Troubles)

  • "'wert thou the unicorn, pride and wrath would confound thee and make thine own self the conquest of thy fury"
  • "I am Misanthropos, and hate mankind. For thy part, I do wish thou wert a dog, that I might love thee something."
