Tobin Dax

Tobin Dax was a joined Trill in the 22nd century. Tobin was the second host of the Dax symbiont. He was a skilled engineer, though shy and introverted.

Tobin was known to be an expert on sub-impulse thrusters and phase coil inverters. (DS9 episode: "The Siege")

In the mid-22nd century, Tobin Dax was recruited by the Cochrane Institute of Alpha Centauri to participate in the testing of a prototype transporter. (DS9 - The Lives of Dax short story: "Dead Man's Hand")

In 2154, Tobin was at the launch of the Columbia (NX-02) and had calibrated the warp coils. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night)

In 2155, Tobin was part of Earth's Warp Seven Stardrive Program alongside Skon. (ENT novel: The Romulan War: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)

Although shy, Tobin enjoyed magic tricks. During the Earth-Romulan War, he demonstrated his abilities to Skon. (DS9 - The Lives of Dax short story: "Dead Man's Hand")

Tobin's child Raifi was known to have put him "through hell". (DS9 episode: "Nor the Battle to the Strong")

During his life, Tobin worked on a proof of Pierre de Fermat's theorem. (DS9 episode: "Facets")

Tobin met Iloja of Prim while the Cardassian author was exiled on Vulcan. (DS9 episode: "Destiny")

Tobin was known to be the only host of Dax (up to and including Jadzia) to have attempted growing plants, although he was not always successful. (DS9 episode: "The Wire")

Tobin was a vegetarian. (DS9 episode: "Afterimage")

According to Curzon, Tobin was never drunk in his life and it was only during the zhian'tara ritual did he get intoxicated while embodying a friend of Curzon's. (DS9 episode: "Facets")

Miles O'Brien embodied Tobin during Jadzia's zhian'tara. He was pleased to learn Jadzia admired his work on Fermat's theorem. (DS9 episode: "Facets")
