Tofu was a type of food on planet Earth, made from the curds of soybeans.

Tatya Bilash and Yoshi Nakamura offered tofu to the Vulcan explorer Sorahl as part of his first meal on Earth. Sorahl surprised them by referring to it by the Latin genus name for the soybean, glycine, and noting that Vulcan cultivated similar plants. (TOS novel: Strangers from the Sky)
