Tohvun III is a planet located in the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant, the third planet orbiting the Tohvun star system in Federation space. (ST reference: Star Charts)
Tohvun III is a pleasant, if somewhat cold and damp (by Cardassian standards), planet on the Federation frontier. It is mainly an outpost for traders and tourists interested in trekking the forested sloped of Mandara, an enormous inactive volcano.
The Cardassian embassy on Tohvun III was the site for peace talks in the Federation-Cardassian War. The talks, however, were scuppered by the efforts of Obsidian Order operatives Maladek, Oonal and Elim Garak. (DS9 novel: A Stitch in Time)
In 2369, Madred claimed the Cardassians had sent a message to Tohvun III for an impartial representative to meet with his prisoner, Jean-Luc Picard. (TNG episode: "Chain of Command, Part II")
