Torona IV is the homeworld of the Jarada species.

During the Iconian Gateways Crisis in 2376, a gateway linked Torona IV to the colony on Europa Nova. Commander Elias Vaughn successfully negotiated with the xenophobic Jarada to allow five hundred thousand Europani evacuees to seek refuge on their planet through the gateway. After evacuating all Europani from Torona IV, the USS Defiant was inexplicably attacked by the Jarada. Determined to keep the convoy of starships leaving the Torona system safe, Vaughn ordered the Defiant to flee the Jarada attack on impulse power only. The attack caused all diplomatic relations between the Federation and the Jarada to break down, although neither the Federation Council or Starfleet Command was concerned.
