Torosaurus was a ceratopsid dinosaur indigenous to planet Earth millions of years ago during the Cretaceous period. It was similar to Pentaceratops and Triceratops, but more rare. Torosaurs were believed to inhabit the areas that would become Montana, Saskatchewan, South Dakota and Wyoming, amongst others.

Torosaurs were the same size as Triceratops at 6.4 - 7.6 meters long, with a small, long beak, horns on their nose and brow, and the characteristic bony cranial frill of ceratopsidae. Their jaw muscles reached right up into their cranial frill causing parts of it to expand and contract as they ate. Their skulls averaged 2.6 meters long and were the largest of any land animal from Earth.

Notable examplesEdit

After they had time travelled back to the late-Cretaceous via the Guardian of Forever, Captain Kirk, Commander Spock and Doctor McCoy witnessed two Torosaurs feeding. The Torosaurs fled when a nearby titanosaur was attacked by a Tyrannosaurus rex. (TOS novel: First Frontier)
