Commodore Travers was a Starfleet officer during the mid-23rd century.

In 2267, he was the commanding officer of the outpost on Cestus III. He was very suspicious of Captain Picard (using the name Dixon Hill) when he was discovered on Cestus III. This suspicion would continue until the time of his death at the hands of the Gorn several days later. Prior to his death he had invited Captain James T. Kirk and his senior staff to dinner, which is why the USS Enterprise would come to discover the outpost's destruction. Travers was well known for his fine taste in food and dislike for reconstituted food. (TNG novel: Requiem; TOS episode: "Arena")
