Trenjan was a 23rd century Human man who served in Starfleet and was assigned to the Federation starship USS Enterprise in 2285. In that year, Trenjan was a lieutenant, one of about a half-dozen crew replacements that joined the Enterprise at Starbase 19.

When the replacements beamed aboard, Scotty introduced himself, as he had put Trenjan on the task of courier in bringing aboard two fifths of a specialty alcohol. (TOS comic: "Who Is... Enigma?")
