Tromsø is a city on Earth, located in northern Norway. The city is the largest urban center in northern Norway, and one of the larger urban centers overall in Norway.

Tromsø was popular with individuals from planets used to a colder climate. The Arctic Cathedral and the Grimsdottir Rink are popular attractions in the heart of the city.

The Andorian Empire maintained its embassy in the city. Andorians found that Norway reminded them of home, and also found the local population quite welcoming. During the Andorian secession from the United Federation of Planets the Andorian government maintained the embassy and other holdings in the city, and worked to reestablish their link with the city when the Andorian people decided to return to the Federation.

Deanna Troi and her daughter Natasha Miana Riker-Troi traveled to Tromsø in 2385. Deanna took her daughter to the city as Natasha had never seen actual snow before, and to also ask Andorian Emissary Ramasanar ch'Nuillan for his aid in freeing Doctor Julian Bashir from the clandestine prison in which he was being held without trial.
