The Troyians were a humanoid race native to the planet Troyius in the Tellun system (TOS episode: "Elaan of Troyius").

CharacteristicsEdit

They were distinguished by their green- (TOS episode: "Elaan of Troyius") to blue-colored skin (FASA RPG module: The Federation).

Both Orions and Troyians are known for their green skin. The FASA RPG module: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge places an Orion Colony on Troyius, perhaps intending to suggest a shared heritage, but the source gives no indication of this, and even separates the two communities. The FASA RPG module: The Federation, meanwhile, makes Troyians blue-skinned and possibly descendants of a lost Andorian colony, but makes no mention of Andorian antennae.

Troyians were similar to Elasians, but a little more advanced (FASA RPG module: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge). Though they had strong aggressive tendencies when provoked, their civilization was generally peaceful and technologically advanced (FASA RPG module: The Federation).

Troyius was a monarchy ruled by a Prefect-King (FASA RPG modules: The Federation, The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge) or Principus (Decipher RPG module: Worlds). It also had lords and the Troyius Tribunal (TOS episode: "Elaan of Troyius").

A special member of the nobility was the acton. Actone were expected to obey the law at all times and put a stop to any criminal activity they found, essentially operating as an impromptu police force. They could also take up the causes of wronged victims, who could petition them for aid. The Tribunal prosecuted those who sought to hire an acton under false pretenses or improper promises. However, in practice, actone paid more attention to their estates than their duties. Tourist guides about Troyius spoke of them as "knights-errant", but visitors expecting armored mounted warriors would be disappointed.

Laws introduced on Troyius in the late 23rd century discouraged citizens from carrying weapons, both guns and blades. However, it was still possible to pay for the privilege to bear arms, while members of the nobility had no such restrictions.

In the late 23rd century, Troyians committed themselves to developing interstellar trade, and improved their merchant fleet. Despite their inexperience, Troyian crews were dedicated and enthusiastic. (FASA RPG module: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge)

Troyians had a history of war with the Elasians, from the neighboring planet Elas. In 2268, in order to establish peace between the two cultures, a marriage was arranged between Elaan, the Dohlman of Elas, and Cosalthan II of Troyius, which was accomplished with the assistance of the United Federation of Planets. A male Troyian named Purdi lived in San Francisco on Earth in the 2280s, and owned a bookstore, Purdi's Book Emporium. (TOS novel: Strangers from the Sky)
