The Tuatara-class cruiser was a Gorn Hegemony starship class in service in the early 25th century. It was equipped with disruptor beam arrays and photon torpedo launchers. Tuatara-class cruisers outmatched Vishap-class frigates in terms of size and armament. It was among the Gorn ship classes not acquired by the Klingon Defense Force after the Hegemony became a vassal state of the Klingon Empire. (STO mission: "Halting the Gorn Advance")
History
In 2409, the Gorn participated in the Klingon war effort against the Federation. Tuatara-class cruisers were among the Gorn fleet blockading a planet in the Tostig system. (STO mission: "Halting the Gorn Advance" They were also part of fleets roaming the Regulus sector block and patrolling Klingon space. (STO missions: "Defend the Regulus Sector Block", "Defend the Pi Canis Sector Block")
Ships of this class were used both by the Hegemonic High Command and by the Gorn resistance to attack Starfleet and KDF starbases. (STO missions: "Fleet Alert", "Starbase Fleet Defense", "Fleet Transport Defense") Gorn rebels used such a cruiser to supply their base on Nimbus III. That ship came under attack by the Orion Syndicate when Hassan the Undying was flushed out of his stronghold by a Starfleet/Klingon/Romulan Republican Force team. The Allies defended and repaired the Gorn ship, and in turn the Gorn helped to defeat Hassan's dreadnought. (STO mission: "The Undying"
They also featured in Starfleet battle simulation 347 for tactical training purposes. (STO mission: "No Win Scenario")
Tuatara-class cruisers were part of the Gorn flotilla invading the Gamma Eridon system in the Tau Dewa sector block. (STO mission: "Gamma Eridon System Patrol")
