The USS Akarana was an Istanbul-class Federation transport vessel that was in service during the 24th century.
In April 2376, the Akarana was temporarily called upon by the Starfleet Corps of Engineers to extend the hand of peace from the United Federation of Planets to Kropasar and begin the reconstruction of that world, carrying goods and technology as well as Federation personnel such as engineers and diplomats. Captain Montgomery Scott, having personally argued for the mission, accompanied the ship and extended the hand of friendship to High Cyning Sunanios Gilvatac himself. (SCE eBook: The Future Begins)
