The USS Ambassador Hardin (NCC-8000) was the prototype Ambassador Hardin-class Federation heavy cruiser starship in the 24th century, entering Starfleet service on reference stardate 2/9912. The first Hardin-class ship constructed, the Hardin was built at the shipyards of Argelius II. (FASA RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Officer's Manual)

Although there was no person named Ambassador Hardin mentioned in any other Star Trek releases, the class is noted to be named for influential figures in Federation history.
