The USS Armstrong (NCC-19212) was a Federation Oberth-class science vessel starship in service to Starfleet in the late 23rd and the majority of the 24th century. (DS9 comic: "Stowaway"; ST video game: Klingon Academy; TOS novel: Vulcan's Heart)

History[]

This ship was used in the elite Klingon Command Academy bridge crew training simulations for the class of 2290. As such, she was encountered in the Eisenhower star system in a simulated mission, in company with the USS Carter. (TOS video game: Klingon Academy)

By the late 2320s, the Armstrong was under the command of Captain Truman Howes. Also serving aboard in 2329 was Commander Saavik, who served as Howes' first officer. Saavik remained aboard in that capacity until 2344, when she requested personal leave as she was undergoing pon farr. (TOS novel: Vulcan's Heart)

By the late 2360s, the Armstrong was commanded by Captain Johnson. In 2369, the Armstrong docked at Deep Space 9 after completing a survey mission in the Gamma Quadrant with renowned Federation xenobiologist Doctor Josiah Wembley aboard. (DS9 comics: "Stowaway", "Stowaway, Part II")

By 2373 the Armstrong had either been lost or decommissioned and replaced by a new ship bearing the name. (DS9 episode: "Apocalypse Rising"; ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia)
