The USS Armstrong (NCC-57537) was a Federation Challenger-class starship in service to Starfleet in the late 24th century. (ST reference: Star Trek Encyclopedia)
In early 2373, the Armstrong and the USS Drake were ambushed by Klingon forces in the brief Federation-Klingon War of 2373, and were forced to dock at Deep Space 9 for repairs. (DS9 episode: "Apocalypse Rising")
At the beginning of the Dominion War, Zelik Leybenzon was assigned to the Armstrong as an enlisted security officer. He later received a field promotion after repairing a damaged phaser bank that had been written off by the chief engineer and chief of security. (TNG novel: Q & A)
- In the TTN novel: Taking Wing, Captain William T. Riker refers to the Challenger-class ship named Armstrong when explaining that the USS Titan's shuttlecraft is named for Louis Armstrong, rather than Neil Armstrong.
