The USS Charon (NCC-80111) was a Luna-class Federation starship in service in the late 24th century. Constructed at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, the Charon was launched on stardate 56980.2 in 2379. Her dedication plaque read, "Only seek, and you shall find."
In 2380, she was under the command of Captain Bellatora Fortis, on an exploratory mission to the Beta Quadrant - one of four Luna-class vessels assigned. The Charon was the closest Luna-class vessel to the USS Titan. Her course was intended to take her through the Ring Nebula, but the Charon encountered a region of extreme temporal flux in the Elysia Incendae system, which destroyed the vessel. Its wreckage was thrown thousands of years into the past, where it crashed on the surface of Orisha. (TTN novels: Taking Wing, Sword of Damocles)
